Description
Saxifrages are woodland or alpine plants. They can be annuals, biennials or herbaceous or evergreen perennials. Some varieties do well in shade while others need more sun. Mostly mat-forming in habit, they are ideal for using as ground-cover plants and are particularly suited to growing in rock gardens. They have star-shaped flowers, which appear from spring right through to autumn, depending on the species.
Saxifraga ‘White Pixie’ is a mound-forming, evergreen alpine saxifrage with fresh green foliage that contrasts beautifully with delicate white spring flowers. It’s an excellent choice for a rock garden, container display or stone trough, and is perfect for using as ground-cover.
Grow Saxifraga ‘White Pixie’ in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Surround plants with a thick layer of grit to prevent water-logging around the crown of the plant and prevent slugs from damaging the plant.
