Description

Saxifrages are perennial woodland or alpine plants. They grow low, creating a mat of evergreen coverage with small upward-facing pink flowers from spring into early summer.

With a preference for cool and moist spots, they’ll struggle in overly dry or hot conditions. They’ll also adapt well to one of our outdoor pots or troughs and so long as they’re kept watered, even a window box.

Fast growing, they’re also great additions to rock gardens or using for ground cover and look great when combined with low ornamental grasses too.

To keep Saxifrigas looking their best, we recommend you trim them lightly after flowering to remove redundant stems. We also suggest surrounding the plants with a thick layer of grit to prevent waterlogging around the crown of the plant and prevent slugs from damaging the plant.
