Why We Love It:
Violet ‘Chantreyland’ is a beautifully refined variety producing softly ruffled flowers in gentle shades of apricot and cream. Unlike many violas, this variety has a light, sweet fragrance that makes it a joy to grow close to paths or in pots near the door. It’s also incredibly hardy and self-seeds lightly, naturalising beautifully over time without taking over. A romantic choice for traditional and modern gardens alike.
Planting & Care Tips:
When to Plant: Sow indoors from February to April or outdoors from May to July
Where to Plant: Sunny or lightly shaded areas, in rich, well-drained soil
Spacing: 20cm apart
Care Notes: Water regularly during dry spells and deadhead spent blooms to encourage longer flowering. Mulch in autumn to protect roots and encourage healthy regrowth
The Nunhead Gardener Recommends:
Grow alongside primroses and snowdrops for a soft spring display or tuck into shady containers with ferns and trailing ivy for a charming, layered look.
