Why We Love It:
Sweet Pea ‘Everlasting Mixed’ (Lathyrus latifolius) produces masses of delicate, butterfly-like flowers in soft shades of pink, white, and purple year after year. Unlike annual sweet peas, this variety is a perennial climber—meaning no re-sowing required! Though unscented, its long flowering season, low maintenance, and reliable growth make it a go-to for perennial planting schemes and pollinator-friendly gardens.
Planting & Care Tips:
When to Plant: Sow indoors from February to April or outdoors from April to June
Where to Plant: Sunny spot with support from trellises, arches, or obelisks
Spacing: 30–45cm apart
Care Notes: Water regularly until established. Provide climbing support and deadhead to extend flowering. Cut back to the base in late autumn to encourage strong regrowth in spring
The Nunhead Gardener Recommends:
Great for planting with climbing roses or clematis for layered colour on a garden arch. Ideal for South London gardens where time is short and long-term performance is key.
