Description
A bold and vibrant perennial that’s as attractive to pollinators as it is to gardeners. Well-suited to UK gardens and a reliable choice for both beginners and experienced growers.
Highlights:
Flowering Season: July to September
Height & Spread: 90–120cm height | 45–60cm spread
Position: Full sun | Moist, fertile, well-drained soil
Great for: Wildlife gardens, prairie-style planting, cut flower gardens, raised beds
Why We Love It:
Echinacea ‘Bravado’ produces large, daisy-like flowers in vivid pinks with prominent coppery-orange centres that add texture and height to sunny borders. Exceptionally hardy and drought-tolerant once established, it’s a long-flowering perennial that also makes a fantastic cut flower. A favourite with bees and butterflies, this variety brings structure, movement, and late-summer colour with minimal fuss.
Planting & Care Tips:
When to Plant: Sow indoors from February to April or directly outdoors after the last frost (typically from May onwards)
Where to Plant: Sunny, well-drained site, either in borders or larger containers
Spacing: 45–60cm apart
Care Notes: Water regularly during the first season to establish, then reduce watering. Deadhead spent flowers to prolong blooming and leave seed heads over winter for wildlife interest
The Nunhead Gardener Recommends:
Perfect for pairing with ornamental grasses, rudbeckia, and salvias for a relaxed prairie-style garden. Leave seed heads to stand through winter—they look beautiful with a touch of frost and provide food for birds.
