Description
Primula Veris (Cowslips) are semi-evergreen perennials native to the UK. More slender than other members of the Primula family, the Veris features longer stems crowned with a cluster of fragrant blooms. Usually in yellow, they do sometimes come in orange and red (or variegated combinations of both). Their fresh green crinkly leaves further enhance their rustic look.
With a preference for moist soil and partial shade, they were once common in meadows, and so look particularly good when naturalised in grass or around ponds. They can flourish around trees too – so long as they’re not starved of light – and are happy in all soil types.
After they’ve flowered, they’ll self-seed, and mulch them once a year with well-rotted manure or compost and they’ll be sure to return, providing some lush colour in the spring months.
The colours available will vary depending on what is available. If you have a preference for a particular colour, please contact us and we’ll do our best to fulfil your request.
