Why We Love It:
Coriander is a kitchen staple, perfect for adding fresh flavour to everything from curries to salads and salsas. It’s quick to grow and ideal for small South London spaces, whether on a sunny windowsill or balcony. With regular harvesting, it produces a steady supply of aromatic leaves, and if left to flower, the seeds (coriander spice) can also be harvested.
Sowing & Growing Tips:
When to Sow: Not applicable – supplied as a young plant; plant out from spring onwards
Germination Time: Not applicable
Where to Grow: Containers, window boxes, raised beds, or open ground in a sunny or lightly shaded spot
Care Notes: Keep soil consistently moist and harvest regularly to prevent bolting. Provide some shade in hot weather to prolong leaf production.
The Nunhead Gardener Recommends:
Grow little and often for a continuous supply. Pair with chilli plants, tomatoes and mint for a fresh, flavour-packed kitchen garden. Best used fresh—add just before serving to retain its bright flavour.
