Description
These classic Poppies are a sight to behold – their huge (15-20cm) scarlet blooms and deep, black-centred middles, are a striking sight – and great for insects too.
Clump-forming, these perennials will keep coming back, their fine silvery green foliage and tall hairy stems instantly recognisable. Hardy too, they are a real garden jewel; flowering from early to mid-summer, often ahead of the curve compared to other blooms.
Thriving in well-drained soil they’ll do best in sunnier positions – and whether planted as a group or scattered among other plants and grasses, their presence will always provide pleasure.
Once the flowers have gone, the seed pods are a great snack for garden birds!
