Even with minimal care and attention, it doesn’t take long for Strelitzia nicolai to grow to a height of 2m. If left pot-bound at this height, the Giant Bird of Paradise will reward its owner with a display of colossal blue and white flower heads. Just like its smaller cousin, the orange flowered Bird of Paradise, the large blooms look very much like a bird with an elegant crest.
