Description
Low-growing and evergreen, the Vinca Minor ‘Verino’ is a mat-forming herbaceous perennial which yields masses of delicate purple flowers in springtime. In optimum conditions, occasional flowers may appear through summer and into autumn too.
A great alternative to ivy, it’s more interesting too and is ideal for covering banks and slopes or the ground beneath trees. Their vigorous growth and thick glossy leaves make a great way to help control weeds too. Although they prefer sun and dappled light, they will survive in relatively shady areas too.
Drought tolerant, they’re also useful to consider for planters and baskets – the hardy trailing foliage and flowers giving an organic feel to both as they cascade over the sides and look great with spring and summer bulbs growing up through the foliage.
