Description

Evergreen, with beautiful creamy-white, almond-scented flowers, Clematis Armandii are vigorous climbers that will quickly add height to your planting scheme. The large flowers appear in clusters during early to mid-spring and measure 5-6cm in diameter.

 
Where other clematis will lose their leaves, the Armandii will keep them – their dark green glossy leaves bringing year-round greenery. Lovers of the sun, they won’t cope well in shade and prefer a sheltered spot in well-drained soil out of the wind. Beyond that, they’re pretty low maintenance with pruning optional (but not necessary) after the flowering period.

With growth rates of up to a couple of feet a year, you can grow clematis up trellis or pergola; wires or even a drainpipe! And if you prefer, they’ll take to life well in one of our beautiful patio planters too. If you do choose a planter or patio container then water frequently through the growing season and use a good soil-based compost like John Innes No. 3.
