Why We Love It:

‘Cambridge Favourite’ is a classic British strawberry, celebrated for its superb flavour, reliability, and generous harvests. It’s well-suited to UK gardens, coping brilliantly with variable weather while still producing plenty of sweet, medium-sized fruits. A fantastic choice for both beginners and experienced gardeners, it’s perfect for creating a traditional summer strawberry patch.

Sowing & Growing Tips:

  • When to Sow: Plant young plants outdoors from March to June

  • Germination Time: (For reference if sowing seeds) N/A (grown from runners or young plants)

  • Where to Grow: Open ground, raised beds, containers, hanging baskets

  • Care Notes: Water regularly, especially during dry spells and fruiting. Mulch around plants with straw or mats to keep fruits clean and reduce slug damage. Feed with a high-potash fertiliser once flowering begins. Remove runners unless you wish to propagate more plants.

The Nunhead Gardener Recommends:

Grow alongside borage to attract bees and improve pollination. ‘Cambridge Favourite’ strawberries are delicious fresh from the plant, served with cream, blended into smoothies, or made into traditional homemade jam.
