Description

A member of the oat family, Stipa Gigantea is a semi-evergreen grass that gently sways in the breeze providing majestic movement in your garden. Robust, it will grow up to 2m high, delivering purplish flowers that turn gold upon ripening and resemble oats.

Loving full sun, they are very hardy addition to any garden though prefer a sheltered position. They’re drought resistant and low maintenance, though you will need to pull out dead growth to keep your plant looking it’s best. They can be cut back in spring and winter and don’t need feeding.

Taking 2-5 years to reach full height, they’re great at filling space and breaking up larger gardens. You can even use them as a great centrepiece in a smaller garden too.
