Why We Love It:

‘Golden Jemmer’ stands out not just for its eye-catching colour, but for its excellent flavour and soft, creamy texture. It’s a heavy-cropping, reliable variety that’s easy to grow and highly resistant to common courgette diseases. The compact, bushy growth makes it ideal for smaller gardens, patios, and urban spaces where space is at a premium.

Sowing & Growing Tips:

  • When to Sow: Plant young plants outdoors from late May, after the last frost

  • Germination Time: (For reference if sowing seeds) 7–14 days at 18–22°C

  • Where to Grow: Open ground, raised beds, large containers

  • Care Notes: Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture and feed every 10–14 days once fruits start to set. Harvest courgettes when young (10–15cm long) for the best flavour and to encourage continuous cropping.

The Nunhead Gardener Recommends:

Grow alongside nasturtiums to naturally deter pests and attract beneficial insects. ‘Golden Jemmer’ is delicious lightly grilled, roasted, or sliced raw into colourful summer salads. Try spiralising into vibrant veggie noodles!
