Cordyline Southern Splendour
Description
Also known as the ‘Cabbage Palm’ Cordylines are evergreen shrubs, which, in the case of Southern Splendour, feature striped leaves in different tones of deep red. Exotic-looking, these are a great option if you’re after something ‘architectural’ in your garden, their sword-like leaves not only providing height, but also graceful movement in a gentle breeze.
Therse Cordylines are versatile too – whether in planters or containers on a patio or deck; or in the ground as part of a wider planting scheme. In summer, mature plants will reward you with sprays of small, pinky-white, scented flowers.
Preferring warm and sunny spots, despite their robust appearance, Cordylines do best sheltered from cold wind. Drought resistant, and not needing pruning, they are suitable for gardeners of all abilities. Removing any dead or damaged foliage will encourage growth and help sustain their vivid colour.
