A gift of success and recognition. The bay tree is an aromatic evergreen tree with green leathery leaves and small yellow flowers. It is followed by small black berries on the female plants. Bay leaves can be used fresh or dried and are used in cooking to give a fragrant flavour to soups, stews and other dishes. Bay trees are seen as symbols of high status and success. They are also a used as a symbol of wealth and recognition in the bible. This plant can be grown well outside as it is hardy up to -10C. Commonly it is kept as a house or greenhouse plant. It is also an ideal plant for using in topiary to create ball, box or twisted crown shapes.
