Photinia Carre Rouge
Description
Compact and magnificent, the ‘Carre Rouge’ is a naturally bushy evergreen that yields a dazzling flash of bright red as new growth emerges. Also known as the ‘Christmas Berry’ this versatile shrub bears panicles small creamy-white flowers in spring attracting bees and butterflies.
Unlike its cousin the ‘Red Robin’, in optimum conditions, the ‘Carre Rouge’ repeatedly generates new colourful growth through spring and summer. On top of that, it needs less pruning, making it easy to care for; its upright growth and smaller leaves making it a great candidate for topiary and training.
Great in a container, it also performs well in a border or can be grown into hedging.
Hardy, Photinia Carre Rouge grows well in any soil type, so long as the drainage is good drainage. While it will tolerate partial shade, the most vibrant colours will always emerge in sunnier spots.
