Description

This ornamental pineapple is a smaller (inedible) version of the wild pineapple but makes an exotic and somewhat unusual addition to any bright and warm space.

Gaining their name during the colonisation of the New World the Ananas Corona Bromeliad or Pineapple Plant is one of the best known members of the Bromeliad family. This species was originally collected in Brazil.

Supplied in a 12cm growers pot.

Plant Care Tips:

Light: Bromeliads prefer a bright location that isn’t exposed to direct sunlight.

Water: Rainwater, or outdoor water from a pond or water butt is recommended for watering. Keep potting compost damp and top-up the central ‘tank’. Empty and refill the tank each month. Reduce watering in winter.

Temperature/Humidity: Bromeliads enjoy average UK room temperatures. A room temperature close to 21°C (70°F) will encourage flowering. Place the plant on a moist pebble tray and provide an afternoon rainwater mist to maximise humidity. Keep above 10°C (50°F) in winter.

Fertiliser: Feed pineapple plants with a balanced water-soluable fertiliser every 2-3 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Do not fertilise during the winter months, when the plant is dormant.

Toxicity: This houseplant is non-toxic and pet friendly.

Please note: the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a simple nursery pot). They do however make excellent potted plants and, if you wish to pot yours up, we do have a wide range of pots on our website to choose from.

Please note: images show how this plant may look at various stages of maturity. The size you choose may look different.
